Der Winter ist zurück!
Wonderful it was last wednesday to stay outside till late, drinking wine and eating cheese. The mood changed rapidly yesterday and today morning. It is raining buckets again and it is nasty cold! I've heard enough promises now of warm/hot/humid DC weather! I wanna see it!!!
The good thing with bad weather is that I need to walk. Even though it is not my favourite occupation just to walk, it gives time to think about many things. For example:
Thinking about work: What to do, what to do first, and what is not to forget! But it also gives time to think about topics I usually do not have that much time to think about.
Thinking about politics! While walking I get the chance to have a look at the houses and the gardens where it sometimes says "Obama" or "Clinton". The big question: Who's gonna win? My guess would be Obama. Clinton does not reach the people's heart, the Clintons are considered as sleazy, her husband is not doing any good. Exciting it is and will become.
Thinking about my future: Next Saturday in two months I will be back in Switzerland. One of the first thing I gonna do is eating Nüsslisalat with Mayonnaise sauce and running around around the Rotsee!
Thinking about holidays: Next Saturday I will go to Boston for three days
Thinking about the past: On Thursday I will meet people from the HEI Alumni Chapter in DC
Thinking about my family: My sister is going to marry on 08.08.08 and I'll be her bridesmaid!
Since summer 2007 I am in a constant move, going here and there to discover the world. I am of curious nature and up for any challenge. To a certain extent I have given up making plans since it comes differently anyway. What's next in Andrea's life? This Blog will tell you more than that.

What an evening, what a day!
The crazyness of the last couple of hours started yesterday at 10am when I was walking and falling on the streets of Washington DC downtown. On my (late) way to the "Embassy Dialogue Committee" I did not see the step on the sidewalk and shortly lay on it. Nice moment!
As soon as I was back on my feet and later on at the Embassy some calls were needed to deal with. A Brand Audit Presentation at another place in this car crowded, dusty and humid city was to attend! Just on time It happened to me to be a judge for a couple of MBA students doing their presentations, among them the Team Switzerland! It is 7pm.
While all other teams focused on a Tourism Brand, Team Switzerland's objective was to analyse the ThinkSwiss project and its partners...! They made their point: Switzerland goes beyond its image of being a nice place for tourism. Switzerland is innovative, has excellent research institutions and high quality study programs. Does this message go through? What did people think back in 2000 how do they think now? A survey was made, 120 articles about Switzerland's image in these areas have been analysed. The last point being of my own interest, I was finally happy having stressed the whole day and the last week to help our Team preparing a database useful for them, make clear what questions we would like them to answer. However, time to read their report has not come yet, a small look only, just enough to say two sentences about it today morning at a worlwide telephoneconference...! It's 10pm
And the crazy hours continued today monrning when I tortured myself out of my bed to finish a last document for the conference. Working on different files and multitasking it happens I close the program instead of the document. I just click continue.... and... do you guess? The work of two hours was lost! Starting over, going quickly, being focused.... I finished on time and even had time to get a second coffee: 11am. Briefing of my boss who just arrived at 10.45am in DC and get ready for the conference. Everything worked out fine, happy to see some fruits of the work from the last couple of days, proud having said some words, glad being involved and able to share my opinion.
Then, today in the evening the merit of all: Bündnerfleisch, Salami, assorted Swiss cheese, a wonderful wine from Maienfeld and Swiss chocolate: There are not many places in the U.S. to have the chance getting all of this at once and I believe I just had the luck to be at the best of it! It is 11.30pm and I will fall asleep soon.... promised!

Let's go on a journey with me!
First, we will leave my home at 2933 Tilden Street...
...and walk along Connecticut to the metro station Van Ness:
For a good trip we will need some energy: Real good Donuts!
The National Mall with the Capitol in the background!
It starts raining!
But the Swiss keep on staying:
Till the Baco Bell rings...
...and my home on Tilden calls:
Thank you for joining and see you soon...

A bientôt
Andrea
